Our middle-weight compactors are ideal for confined area compaction. Our Gas Rammer is exceptionally well balanced for performance and ease of operation. Gas Rammer features include low vibration handles for operator comfort, and integrated tachometer/hour meter. Rammers are effective to compact almost all soils except soft soil with much water. For trench work with cohesive soil, a gas rammer is the right tool because of the size of the place. The smaller plate allows for more focused and direct compaction, which comes in handy on soils that require more force to properly compact. You will also find gas rammers to be great for trenches and tight spots where compactors aren’t as easy to maneuver. Rammers have the ability to compact a deeper amount of soil than a plate compactor, because the force from the plate is more direct. Therefore, more soil can be added to each layer which can make the process of filling and compacting a hole or trench, much faster.
